About Me

I'm a web designer and developer living in the midlands of the UK. I have worked in the IT industry for 12 years, 8 of those years spent doing software development for a law firm.

I am now making a career switch into web design and development and I'm currently enrolled in the Career Foundry Web Developer course.

This portfolio site was built from the ground up using the knowledge gained from the CareerFoundry course, as well as various other web based resources including CodeSchool and Udemy.

Previous Work

Omnifood website created as part of the Udemy 'Build responsive real world websites' course.
Working calculator using JavaScript and JQuery. Built as a side project for the CareerFoundry web development course.
Production ready, responsive Ruby on Rails web application. Currently under construction as part of the CareerFoundry web development course.
A responsive blog application currently in progress. Built using Ruby on Rails as a side project using the skills learnt on the CareerFoundry web development course.

  Why did you decide to become a web developer?

  I have always enjoyed the creative aspects of design and enjoy the challenge of creating something 'usable.' Web design and development gives me the freedom to apply my creative ideas to something that hopefully people will enjoy using.

  What is your design process?

  My design process is fairly flexible and will be adapted to the client's needs and the complexity of the project. I will always include a sketching and drafting stage as well as mockups of potential designs.

  What is your average project turnaround?

  Project turn around will depend on the complexity of the project but is usually around 8 - 12 weeks from specification to finished project.
